Policies
Payment
We accept payment by cash, check, or credit card before or at the time of service.
Unless other arrangements have been made, we will include a form to obtain your credit or debit card information in your initial intake information to be uploaded in your secure client portal prior to your first appointment.
If you’re curious about our payment policies, or our office policies in general, please read about them in more detail in our Welcome Letter/Informed Consent before we begin work together. If you have questions or concerns about these policies, let's discuss them at the outset, so that there are no surprises as we go forward.
Insurance
If your plan covers out-of-network mental health services, you may be able to submit what is often referred to as a “superbill” to them for reimbursement. Please call your insurance company first to verify deductibles and any other policies they may have. If applicable, we can provide you with a monthly billing statement to submit to your insurance for reimbursement. Payment must be provided to your North Coast Connection provider directly at the time of service.
We also have a few sliding scale spots available for private pay clients. Please contact us for more information on this.
Cancellations
We ask clients to give at least 24 hours notice when canceling appointments. Late cancellations and no-shows will be charged the full session fee.
Covid & Public Health
As public health is a core value of North Coast Connection, we take a firm stance regarding Covid safety and believe in taking necessary steps toward protecting ALL community members.
For the time being, all therapy appointments will be conducted either via telehealth or via outside/walking therapy.
Groups, workshops, trainings, and consultations will be considered on a case-by-case basis with current surges, available ventilation, vaccination status and mask agreements being among variables taken into consideration.
We appreciate your understanding.
No Surprise Act & Good Faith Estimate
The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021 was enacted on December 27, 2020, and contains many provisions to help protect consumers from surprise medical bills under what's known as the No Surprises Act. The protections took effect on January 1, 2022, and apply to all healthcare providers in the U.S.
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.
Under the law, healthcare providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance, or who are not using insurance, an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, which includes mental health care.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, which includes mental health care.
You can also ask your healthcare provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises/consumers or call our office at (503) 218-3771. You may also view a fact sheet by clicking this link.
